A haven of relaxation in the heart of the city, SPA InterContinental on level 36 of InterContinental Bangkok, one of the Best Hotels in Southeast Asia at the 2024 Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards UK and a Michelin Guide Key Hotel, is offering respite from the Thai summer with a unique approach. Combining botanical fragrances, the extraordinary qualities of rice, and a delicate precision fit for royalty, the 90-minute Khao Chae Therapy programme provides a wonderful retreat from the heat.
A fragrant blend of floral-infused rice and delicate bites, Khao Chae is a complete expression of Thai elegance and beauty. Once a royal delicacy, this refreshing dish was designed to cool the Kingdom’s nobility during the heat of Thai summer. Today, it remains a symbol of luxury and a beloved Songkran Festival tradition.
Spa InterContinental is taking inspiration from the allures of Khao Chae to deliver an experience of authentic Thai hospitality and artful refreshment.
The Khao Chae Therapy programme begins with a regal 30-minute Jasmine Rice Body Scrub incorporating jasmine and rose scented water. The gentle exfoliation using extracts from Thai Jasmine rice uncovers the skin’s natural radiance, leaving the body silk soft.
After the revelation is a 60-minute Jasmine Rice Bran Oil Massage. Paired with aromatherapy, gentle and firm pressure is alternated during the application of golden rice bran oil. The natural extract hydrates the skin while also providing UV protection. Rich in vitamins B and E, as well as Gamma Oryzanol, the oil is wonderfully antioxidant, boosting skin health through moisturisation. Resulting from the treatment is complete relaxation and relief from stress.
Priced at THB 3,950++ per person, the Khao Chae Therapy is available daily at SPA InterContinental from 1 April 2025 to 30 June 2025, from 09.00 to 23.00 hours.
