THE happening Italian restaurant Italics in Soi Ruamrudee is really on its toes these days after French epicurean, Pierre Leuzy, recently took over as its new manager.
This eatery is popular with some of the city’s foodies who greatly enjoy Chef Kip’s creative gourmet menu with the attached Balvenie Bar also an enticing spot for a post-dinner tipple because of its outstanding single malt and cigar selections.
Before coming to Thailand Pierre was involved in several five-star hotel pre-openings in Paris and the famous Beau Rivage in the Swiss Alps. He also managed a series of elaborate private events for several wealthy families and private companies on the French Riviera.
“I have always been driven by the idea of service excellence,” he says. “I once sent back an incredibly expensive birthday cake because the family that hired me said it was the wrong shade of pink.
“They ended up paying 10 times more for the replacement because we hired a famous pastry chef from Paris to make a new one, but it was never about the money. They trusted me, so I simply did everything possible to meet their expectations.”
Prior to joining Italics Pierre managed one of the most popular rooftop bars in Bangkok and also joined a team of hospitality professionals in developing a new high-end community mall in the fashionable residential and nightlife district of Thonglor, which included a choice of international restaurants and a night club.
“I enjoy the challenge of creating something new and unique,” he said. “At Italics we already offer something special – my goal is to make it extra special.”
