BKK Restaurants and convenience stores closed from 00.00-5.00

Bangkok has now announced that restaurants, convenience stores, and supermarkets are ordered to close from midnight to 5 am. This order applies to convenience stores and supermarkets such as 7/11, Family Mart, Tops, Max Value, Tesco Express, and Big C mini. This is a new measure to minimize the spread of Covid-19 within Bangkok city, the main capital of Thailand published on 1 April 2020. Police General Asawin Kwanmuang the governor of Bangkok has signed the new orders on businesses to be temporarily closed until 30 April 2020. Depending on the Coronavirus situation, new orders and the official dates that these businesses can come back into full operation could be changed at any time.

 

 

The biggest order is for convenience stores, restaurants, and food stalls to be closed from 24.00-05.00. Late-night snackers in Bangkok will now have to take this new order into consideration and plan ahead. The best option is to stock up on food and snacks to avoid leaving the house for as long as possible. Mobile operator stores such as Dtac, Truemove, and AIS stores in malls and buildings are required to temporarily close down as they are not seen as a necessary business for daily life. This also applies to privately owned phone repair shops in malls and markets.

The number of Covid-19 cases continues to increase in Bangkok, revealing that it is necessary for allowing only businesses that are required for daily life to limit the spread of Covid-19. Businesses that are allowed to open from 5 am to midnight are restaurants and food businesses that sell food and drinks in the form of takeaway options. This also applies to Restaurants in hotels that serve food only to clients using hotel services. Customers are allowed to sit down and eat only at restaurants and food businesses in airports and hospitals.

Stores that operate similarly to convenience stores and supermarkets such as small local food stores are also required to close down from midnight – 5 am. Public parks and private parks such as playgrounds in villages are to be closed at all times.
