A delicious journey to Via Maris

A STRIKING bistro in Soi Convent is called Via Maris, which is Latin for “Way of the sea,” a name given to an ancient trade route connecting 21 countries along the beautiful coastline of the Mediterranean Sea including modern-day Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Spain and Turkey, Sanook.com and Gourmet Cuisine reported this week.

This is a new venture from the Foodie Collection Group which has launched other successful outlets including Vesper cocktail bar in Soi Convent, Il Fumo restaurant and bar on Rama 4 road and La Dotta pasta bar & store in Thong Lor.

The owners, Choti and Debby Leenutaphong, were inspired to launch this casual-upbeat bistro during their travels in the Mediterranean area, and it fittingly serves democratic Mediterranean dishes with focus on North Africa, Spain, Southern Italy and Eastern Mediterranean.

When you enter the bistro a happy environment with bright colors welcome you, particularly a map of the Mediterranean area and various types of tiles. This décor really gets you to relax and have fun with your friends.

The delicious food has been jointly created by 2 chefs, Francesco Deiana and Luca Appino, and among the delectable dishes are Burrata & Strawberry, Couscous Alla Trapanese, Chicken Arabesque and a dessert Dates Roulade.
