BILLED as the world’s biggest book sale, the Big Bad Wolf fair will delight book lovers here in Bangkok with a huge collection of roughly 2 million English-language titles all sold at steep discount.
Taking place at Muang Thong Thani’s Impact Forum Hall 9 during August 12-21, 2016, this is a good opportunity to stock up on interesting books of various genres both fiction and non-fiction all sold at whopping 60-80% discount.
There will only be a limited number of Thai-language books at Naiin’s corner of the fair but other non-book items are also available such as floor puzzles, posters, Lego sets, Mickey and Minnie Mouse tins, bracelets and sticky notes.
This is the first time that the Wolf has come to Bangkok after thrilling book lovers at its original home Malaysia where it is a regular event and Indonesia.
According to Jakarta Post just before the Big Bad Wolf book sale during April 30 to May 8, 2016, the organizers obtain their books from three top publishers – Harper Collins, Penguin Books and Alfred A. Knopf.
Unlike other retailers, the organizers cannot return unsold books and these books are sold at the next city.
Most of the titles at the Jakarta event were not newly published, Jakarta Post said, adding there were no copies of this year’s Pulitzer winning book The Sympathizer, nor last year’s Pulitzer winner All the Light We Cannot See or Man Booker Prize winner Brief History of Seven Killings.
However popular books such as the Hunger Games series, Maze Runner, A Song of Ice and Fire and The Lord of the Rings were easily available, this Indonesian newspaper added.
