From early morning to late afternoon at Saphan Hin Park

SAPHAN Hin is one of the top locations for locals to relax on a week-end or even during the week. But what makes the place so special? We decided to spend an entire day at the park and to see what people usually do when they visit this lovely park.

Watch the sunrise

There is probably no better place in Phuket to watch the sunrise. As the park is located on the east side of Phuket Town, it offers gorgeous view over the sunrise, with locals gathering as early as 5:45 am to catch the first glimpse of light. If Prompthep Cape is famous for its sunset, then Saphan Hin is the place to be for sunrise aficionados.

Exercise

From 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., before the weather gets too hot, Saphan Hin is the perfect place for a morning run with your friends or by yourself. The park is surrounded by a concrete path, making it easy to run on, and has numerous benches along the way for a quick break.

Visiting the mangrove

Alongside the park is a preserved and well-maintained mangrove area, which is very pleasant for a stroll or even a picnic. After a few pictures of the natural vegetation, time to grab a well-deserved lunch.

Food

There are plenty of restaurants and small stalls bordering the park. The price you will pay there is very local, meaning it won’t cost you an arm to feast on delicious food. We recommend the Khanom Jin Saphan Hin, a favorite with locals, or the coffee shop next door, Pikgo, if you fancy a cuisine more westernized. Both are really good spots to get your belly full, and you can even relax with a cup of tea at the Baker’s Bar next door.

Exercise… more!

Saphan Hin is also the venue of a large sports complex, which offers a football stadium, tennis courts and a public swimming pool. I personally enjoy jumping in the pool after an afternoon spent under the sun. Again, the pricing is cheap, and you can’t go wrong by following the locals.

We hope to have given you a good overview of Saphan Hin Park. Note that this park is not a touristic place, so it is certainly something you want to add on your to-do list to enjoy life like a local. Have you ever visited the place? If so, what good memories did you take home with you?
