NOVEMBER is at the corner and both inhabitants and visitors of Phuket are excited to welcome back the sunshine and warm weather of the high-season. While there are plenty of indoor activities that can be done in Phuket, the favorite places to visit are certainly the white sandy beaches of the island.
Before heading to get a perfect suntan, it may be a good idea to hit the gym to get your body back into shape after those long months of raining days. We have gathered for you a list of local fitness places worth checking out in different areas of the island.
Fit Gun Gym – Kathu
Located in the heart of Kathu, in the soi that leads to the Kathu waterfalls, Fit Gun Gym offers all the machines you need to train your body and work toward a healthier you. It features different zones to train cardio, upper and lower body and even proposes yoga classes to stretch out those muscles and improve your mindfulness.
The owner, Sandro, and the main trainer, Toto, are there to ensure you get the results you are looking for and are always happy to answer your questions. The gym is closed on Wednesdays.
Action Point Fitness – Rawai
You will find it on soi Sai Yuan, the street that crosses Rawai and heading towards Nai Harn. This fitness offers all the equipment you need located on several floors, with a swimming pool and healthy restaurant on the top floor. An elevator is available, though it defeats the purpose of going to the fitness in the first place, so feel free to climb the stairs!
Several training classes are available and they even offer hot yoga and squash courts! They are also known for their on-site weight-loss program.
Tiger Muay Thai – Chalong
Tiger Muay Thai is a famous sporting center in Phuket when it comes to Muay Thai and MMA, but they also offer access to their fitness facilities. This is a great opportunity to train next to professional athletes in a friendly, yet competitive atmosphere. And while you are exercising your body to get the shape that you want, why not try one of the classes they host every day (closed on Sunday). They offer day passes that allow you to try the different sessions, allowing you to discover perhaps a new hobby of yours.
They are of course way more fitness centers in Phuket than we can list in this post, but this list is a good starting point if you are new to an area or simply visiting but want to stay in shape. Looking forward to hitting the beach in a few weeks!
