BOTH local and foreign bikers are gearing up for the Great Mekong Bike Ride 2018 which is taking place over 3 days, May 18-20, and across 3 northeastern provinces, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan and Sakon Nakhon, INN News reported today (May 10).
Getting ready for the big race today was Mr Somchai Withyadamrong, Nakhon Phanom’s governor, who presided over a committee helping arrange it.
Joining these 3 provinces in organizing this fun and challenging event are Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Cycling Association under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King.
The key aim is to publicize tourism routes along the Mekong river among tourists and the general public, which would help boost tourism in this area.
The long distance race is divided into 3 stages over 3 days, with participating bikers covering 127 kilometers from Nakhon Phanom to Mukdahan the first day, May 18; 150 kilometers from Mukdahan to Sakon Nakhon the second day, May 19; and 95 kilometers from Sakhon Nakhon back to Nakhon Phanom the last day, May 20.
