PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha shared a piece of good news with all Thais yesterday (March 9) and that is the Thai massaman curry has been chosen by CNN as the world’s tastiest food, Sanook.com reported.
CNN praised massaman curry for being spicy, coconutty, sweet and savory and also said “even the packet sauce you buy from the supermarket can make the most delinquent of cooks look like a Michelin potential.”
Meanwhile Tom yum goong was ranked 8th in the list of 50 best foods in the world, while som tum came 46th.
The CNN report mentions that variations of som tum include those made with crab (som tam boo) and fermented fish sauce (som tam plah lah), but none matches the flavor and simple beauty of the original.
