HERE’S a weird one, for a lot of people, swimming in the beautiful Andaman Sea is not ideal; whether because they don’t like the saltiness of the water, are afraid of being stung by some jellyfish, or simply scared of the big waves, they may want to explore other options. Luckily, Phuket offers some public and private swimming pools, which will be perfect to explore on a sunny Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
Phuket Country Home – Chalong
The housing estate Phuket Country Home, located nearby the temple of Chalong, offers access to its swimming pool for a small fee. The swimming pool is quite large and allows for some laps if you feel like doing exercise. Be mindful though that swimming classes start on weekdays from 5 p.m., so you may want to visit the place earlier on.
Saphan Hin Public Pool – Phuket Town
Right within Saphan Hin park in Phuket Town is located an Olympic size swimming pool, with public access all year round. The entrance fee is really low (approximately 20 baht) and the whole area is well maintained. Open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Thanyapura – Thalang
Granted, access to Thanyapura swimming pool will be more expensive than the two other options above, but the grounds and facilities are simply amazing. Focusing on promoting a healthier you, you will find organic restaurant, coffee shop, fitness center and even some tennis courts; a fantastic option if you fancy exercising while staying in Phuket.
Your condo/housing project
Most of the recent condominium and housing projects in Phuket come with their own community swimming pool and fitness center. Sizes vary depending of the constructor, but some of them look really impressive, and come complete with Jacuzzi and water fountains.
