Temperature drops sharply at Doi Inthanon

TOURISTS are flocking to Chiang Mai to enjoy the cold weather on Doi Inthanon where this morning the temperature dropped to 4 degrees Celsius and it is expected that this year will be very cold, Thai News Agency said.

Among the activities already underway by both the public and private sectors at the start of the tourist high season in this northern city is an interesting one launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand Chiang Mai office called ‘Three Zoos and a Park’ costing only 1,599 baht for two person with this covering a night’s stay and guided tour of Chaing Mai Night Safari, Chiang Mai Zoo, Chiang Mai Zoo Aquarium—as well as a visit to Ratchapruek Park. This offer lasts till February 2017.

a-scarlet-minivet-at-doi-inthanon-national-parkMeanwhile Rung Hiranwong, head of Chiang Mai’s Doi Inthanon national park said that the temperature this morning (November 17) was only 4 degrees Celsius from 5 degrees yesterday and it is likely to drop steadily.  While dew drops have not started freezing yet this cold means it should happen soon.

At the Kew Mae Pan viewing point today’s temperature is 7 degrees Celsius leading to tourists flocking in to enjoy the cold, view the sea of mist and the first light of dawn before moving on to enjoy this park’s natural beauty.

The park has fully prepared for this tourist high season including rooms, parking space for cars, van and taxis for hire plus staff to take care of the visitors.
