11 foreigners held for overstaying, drug charges
TOURIST police arrested 11 foreigners for overstaying in Thailand and on drug charges in their drive to purge foreign criminal gangs here, INN News reported today (Sept. 23).
Pol. Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakphan, acting head of Tourist Police, said the raid on foreign criminal gangs overstaying in this country took place in five areas and at six targeted locations.
Of the 11 suspects three were Nigerians who were held for staying in Thailand without permission while five others, three Nigerians and two from Cameroon, were charged with overstaying.
Three others, a Nigerian, an Indian and a Sierra Leone national, were held for having 28 grams of marijuana and 46 grams of cocaine worth 140,000 baht in their possession.
All were sent to police investigators for further legal action.
