A total of 12,114 tourists trekked up the peak of Doi Intanon in the northern Thai province of Chiang Mai yesterday to enjoy cool weather and admire the beautiful scenery, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported (Dec 8, 2019).
“The temperature plunged to -1 degree Celcius early this morning and the ground and all the trees were covered with beautiful white frost,” said Mr. Kritsayam Kongsatree, who is chief of Doi Intanon National Park.
The number of tourists is higher this year, thanks to the four-day-long holiday.
There is thick fog in the morning, and tourists are told to avoid steep slopes.
