TWO Pakistani men were arrested on Khao San road in Bangkok last night and charged with stealing gold ornaments from a shop in southern Surat Thani province earlier that afternoon, Thai News Agency reported today (June 21, 2018).
The 2 men, Mr Muhammad Bashir and Mr Bakhsh Allah who are both from Pakistan, deny that they stole gold ornaments from Mae Malee gold shop in Mueang district of Surat Thani.
However CCTV cameras at the shop show that the 2 men went to the shop at around 1 p.m. yesterday and when the seller was not looking, grabbed some gold ornaments and fled in a car.
Police said they seized 5-baht weight gold bracelets from the suspects as well over 100,000 baht in various currencies.
They added that the suspects had rented a car in Pattaya and drove around tourist centers seemingly looking for targets. They were accused of having earlier stolen a watch in southern Songkhla province.
