3 family members killed as tree falls on their car during rainstorm

Three family members in a car were killed last night while driving home through a heavy rainstorm on a winding mountain road in Umphang District of the northern Thai province of Tak.

Police and a rescue team spent several hours to remove a big tree that fell on the car.

According to the Thai-language daily Khao Sod, the Mae Sot -Umphang route is 164 kilometers long, with 1,219 sharp curves.

During the rainy season, mountain landslides are common. This landslide is the most serious and the worst car accident this year.
