Strong winds caused by tropical storm Podul left a trail of destruction this morning (August 30, 2019) with several houses damaged in a village in Laopordaeng Sub-district in the northeastern Thai province of Sakon Nakhon last night, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.
A 66-year-old woman managed to flee before her wooden house on stilts collapsed. “I ran to a neighbor’s home when my house began to shake,” she said. “It was a close shave with death.”
Sixty other houses were also damaged when several trees were uprooted by the storm.
Sakon Nakhon’s meteorological station is monitoring the situation around the clock.
