FIVE senior officials in the Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Ministry are under investigation for alleged involvement in the purchase of one million doses of fake anti-rabies vaccine, the Thai-language Daily News reported today (April 26).
The vaccines were purchased in 2016 by a committee under the supervision of the five officials, Agriculture Minister Krissada Boonraj said at a press briefing this morning. The drugs were subsequently destroyed.
Since early this year, there has been no report of rabies-related deaths, the minister said, adding that owners should take their pets to get anti-rabies vaccine every year.
