TALKS between Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Srivara Rangseepromnakul and Australian security officials revealed that IS is running over 50 websites aimed at the 3 southern provinces, INN News reported today (Feb. 6).
Pol. Gen. Srivara said he was told that the total number of IS websites has increased by 50% from over 100,000 last year to over 200,000 this year.
While police officers are now cracking down on these websites, Pol. Gen. Srivara assigned Special Branch police to liaise with Australia and other countries on this issue.
The Deputy National Police Chief also said that the admission by former national police chief Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang that he borrowed 300 million baht from Kampol Weerathepsuporn, the fugitive owner of Victoria’s: The Secret Forever massage parlor who is facing human trafficking and money laundering charges, is something for the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to handle.
This office is in charge of checking the route of money transfers to see who it reaches and for this reason it is not necessary for Pol Gen Somyot to come and give an explanation to the police, he said, adding it is for AMLO to decide whether they want an explanation from him or not and whether this issue falls under money laundering category.
