61 arrested at birthday party, 35 are under 18 years old.

Administrative officials in Chana District, Songkhla Province along with police from Kuan Meed Police Station arrested 61 suspects at a birthday party. Out of the number, 35 suspects are under 18 years old. The big group came together and started a birthday party with loud music and alcohol. The party was set up by the beach with no concern for the current Covid-19 situation in Thailand. The party took place in the middle of the night and officials believe there are some who got away. The party is a violation of orders issued by the Division of Communicable Diseases, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health (MOPH). These orders are safety precautions intended to limit the spread of the virus.

Relatives gathered to visit the suspects at the Kuan Meed Police Station on 6 August 2021 at 8.00 am. Many of the suspects will get bailed out for 5,000 THB. The suspects will be sent to the Nathawee Provincial Court where the court will determine each of their fines. 26 suspects will then be sent to quarantine for 14 days in their home provinces. The 35 suspects who are under 18 years old have been sent into quarantine on the 5th. All 65 suspects will receive Covid-19 tests and anyone who tests positive will be immediately sent to a field hospital. 32 motorbikes were found parked by the party and no one has come to pick them up. Officials will be calling in the owners to investigate whether they joined the party. 



Police believe there are dozens who got away when officers entered the party. Those who got away need to get tested for Covid-19 as they can spread the virus to other persons. They will also be prosecuted for violating the safety precautions. The Songkhla Province has 264 new Covid-19 cases today. 220 cases have made a full recovery and 3,245 are receiving medical care. The total number of deaths related to Covid-19 in the province is at 73. There are 21,379 new Covid-19 cases in Thailand. There are 191 new deaths with the total number of deaths related to Covid-19 is at 5,854. The total number of Covid-19 cases in Thailand is 714,684. 4,999 cases are in critical condition. 496,123 have made a full recovery.
