This story was shared by Facebook user “Warunyoo Ketchu”. He shared the story of when he was stuck in an elevator for over an hour with 8 other people. The building in the story was located in Sanam Pao, Bangkok city. Warunyoo and his friends decided to have a night out at this building. When they arrived, they realized that the building had 3 restaurants and bars with 5 stories. They needed to get to the 5th floor but there were too many people waiting to get into the elevator so they decided to take the stairs, but then the stairs led them to a dead end. The group returned to the 3rd floor in order to wait for the elevator.

All 9 people went into the elevator and pressed the 5th-floor button. Instead of going upwards, the elevator dropped downwards and suddenly stop before it hit the ground. They tried to press the emergency button on the elevator but the button was broken. There were some people who knew the owner of the building and tried to call but no help came from the call. They then called the emergency number that was printed inside the elevator where no one answered. After 20 minutes the emergency number dialed back and told them that they would call again, but they never did.

All 9 started to panic and tried to open the elevator door, they were met with a white wall. One person stuck there head out and could tell that the elevator dropped down to the 2nd floor. They then shouted for help and heard an answer telling them to calm down. After 40 minutes the electricity shut down in the elevator causing the lights and fan to also shut down. After an hour had passed by was when all 9 realized they needed to help themselves. They climbed through the extremely narrow top of the elevator and pulled each other through.

It was later reported that the cause of the elevator being stuck was from excessive weight, but all 9 stated that the elevator never beeped as a sign that it was overweight. Even if that was the case, the lack of help and lack of an emergency staircase in the building was no excuse for the terrible system and security of the building.
