THE ongoing crackdown on gambling during World Cup football tournament has so far netted 9,420 offenders, INN News reported today (July 4, 2018).
Pol. Col. Krisana Pattanacharoen, a deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, said soccer gamblers arrested during June 14-July 3, 2018 can be divided into 313 bookies, 8,710 punters, 149 chit runners, 79 online bookies and 169 cyber punters from 107 cases.
Police also seized seized 3,826,381 baht in cash, 36,026,927 baht worth of betting chits and 2,537,144 baht in bank deposits.
Meanwhile National Police Chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda ordered all units to continue regularly checking key places in their area of responsibility where football gambling could be taking place.
Among these places are service and entertainment centers and internet and gaming shops.
