Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva today (Oct 26, 2018) met party members on the outskirts of Bangkok and asked them to re-elect him as party leader, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
Also competing for the party leadership are Dr Warong Dejkitvikrom and Mr Alongkorn Polabut, who are both long-time members of the party.
Political analysts predict a tight race.
In his speech to supporters in Lamlookka District on the outskirts of Bangkok, Mr Abhisit said: “I know that a lot of people are not happy with the current economic situation. A new general election will solve this problem.”
