THE plot of land where judges’ residences are built on a hill in Chiang Mai will be returned to the Forestry Department, with no one allowed to live there, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported today (May 6).
The agreement was made this morning, after the Chiang Mai Court decided that the land be returned to the Forestry Department, which will begin replanting trees in the area.
The court verdict was a victory for local environmentalists, who had strongly campaigned for the removal of the judges’ homes.
