Bangkok Airport Rail Link has reached a New High on no. of passengers using the electric sky train connecting Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi Airport. A total of 2,303,093 passengers used the Airport Rail Link in March 2019. Because of the high number of customers Airport Rail Link received last month, the company responsible for the sky train is planning to increase the schedule of trains operating each day.
Suthep Panpheng from the S.R.T Electrified Train Company Limited or SRTET, the Airport Rail Link Skytrain provider has revealed that March 2019 statistics showed that there were more customers increasing, this means that more customers are choosing travel by Skytrain over other options such as a personal car or other forms of public transportation. The New High in the month of March came to a total of 2,303,093 tickets sold.
Suthep also reported that there was also another New High that took place on the 29th of March 2019, with a total of 95,771 tickets sold in one day.
To fully support the higher demand of customers willing to use the service of Airport Rail Link, the company has planned to improve its services. Today, each train takes quite a long time to arrive between each other throughout the day, some passengers choose to avoid the train because of the long wait if you happen to miss the last train.
SRTET is increasing the frequency of trains in the rush hours of Monday to Friday, with only 8.30 minutes between each train. The new schedule will begin on the 22nd of this month (April 2019). Hopefully, this will help change some customers fear of having to wait for a long time for the train to come, it will also help solve the issue of an overcrowded Skytrain.
