Another child dies in school van error

THE death of a six-year-old first grade schoolboy yesterday (August 2) after being left locked in a school van for hours highlights the carelessness of elders who are in charge as this type of tragedy has occurred time and again over the years, Sanook.com said today (August 3).

The latest victim, Kaka, died in Ayutthaya province yesterday after being left in the locked school van by the driver for seven hours on July 31 during which he did not have enough oxygen to breath in the hot vehicle. The driver admitted that this death occurred because he was negligent.

Sanook News! Compiled a list of small children who have died this way in recent years and hope that teachers and guardians become more careful and watchful as follows:

Dr Adisak Phalidpholkarnphim of Thai Health Promotion Foundation has said that the temperature of vehicles parked in the sun for over an hour soars to 42 degrees Celsius and if a small child is left there for two hours he or she will die.

He also urged those involved to boost steps in taking care and controlling the picking up and leaving of schoolchildren so that this does not happen again.
