AN alert has been issued in Hua Hin and Bang Saphan districts of Prachuap Khiri Khan province to brace for torrential rain and strong winds during May 12-16, Thai News Agency said today (May 12).
Kitikorn Thepyuamnuay, head of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office in Prachuap Khiri Khan, said in keeping with the Thai Meteorological Department’s warning that during May 12-16 there will be driving rain and strong winds in some areas in the southern part of the Central Region and the eastern part of the Southern Region he has sent a warning letter to district chiefs and related agencies to closely watch out for disaster.
The Thai military and voluntary agencies have also been alerted and land and marine rescue teams told to be ready to help out all 24 hours.
Areas of Bang Saphan and Hua Hin districts near the sea are particularly risky, he added.
However the public was also urged to place containers to collect and store rainwater because it is not expected to rain in June.
