THE Thai government today (July 18, 2018) approved Natural Resources and Environment Minister Surasak Kanjanarat’s proposal to launch a nationwide campaign to reduce the use of plastic bags and foam containers, the Thai-language Daily News reported.
The campaign will be officially launched on August 1, with all 154 national parks banning visitors from bringing these containers into their premises.
All animal zoos in the country will enforce the measure on October 1, with officials and people in 24 coastal provinces following suit.
Government officials in 24 coastal provinces will join hands with the local people to retrieve plastic bags and containers from the sea.
