CUSTOMS Department seized lots of counterfeit goods worth 16 million baht with most being sent by parcel post from Aranyaprathet, a town on the border with Cambodia, INN News reported today (Dec. 6)
Mr Kulik Sombatsiri, head of the Customs Department, went to inspect this big lot of fake big-brand merchandise among which were handbags, sports shirts, shoes, hats and spectacles.
Police had investigated and found out that counterfeit goods were being mailed to Bangkok from the border, and in conducting a daylong random check at Thai Postal Office’s logistic post section, they hauled in 200 sacks of fake products.
Mr Kulis said while the inspection on Sunday led to the seizure of a large number of counterfeit products, no arrests were made. For this reason he is going get tough and in future will liaise with the Department of Intellectual Property and police to expand investigation.
