A DEVASTATING flood, described by the locals as the worst in 12 years, has shut down 62 schools, idled fishing fleets and kept a large number of tourists in their hotel rooms in the southern Thai province of Songkhla, INN News reported today (Dec. 4).
Six schools reported that the floodwater had risen to nearly one meter, while restaurants said their stocks of seafood have depleted.
Municipal officials have raised red flags along the beaches frequented by tourists. Lifeguards are also patrolling the beaches to ensure safety for both locals and foreign visitors.
