Pol Lt-Col Pornchai Suwanwong, Chief of Narcotics Suppression Division’s investigation unit in the southern border provinces, and his team chased and arrested 1 of the 2 suspects, Samphan, 29, near a petrol pump in Bang Klam district of southern Songkhla province just as they were driving a pick-up truck full of the narcotic drug.
The other suspect, Baramee, 37, ran off but was later arrested in northern Phitsanulok province.
They told police they had collected the drug at the northern border and were to store it Songkhla. Other members of the network were to take it the 3 southern border provinces and then onwards to Malaysia.
Pol Lt Gen Ronsilp Phusara, head of Region 9 police, said pulling the strings in trafficking of this large amount of Ice was a big dealer nicknamed Phor Liang Tee, who has 12 key persons in his network in Thailand and Malaysia, and police know who they are.
