The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) arrested a convicted British sex offender in Thailand hiding in Pattaya City, Chonburi Province. Officials from England contacted the Thai Police to help arrest an international criminal under 16 counts of an indictment related to child sex abuse and more.
Police Colonel Paisit Wongmueng from the DSI reported that they were contacted by the National Crime Agency (NCA) from England with important information on the 6th of this month (August 2019). An arrest warrant had been issued on 23 July 2019 for the arrest of an international criminal. This is Norman Lunt 80 years old, a British man under serious charges related to child sex abuse which are 9 counts of sexual abuse, 2 counts of sexual assault, and 5 counts of rape.
The victim was 2 daughters of Norman’s close friend. He abused them throughout a period of 5 years. This is unimaginable pain that the girls went through, not including the damage that they have to carry through their life.
Children that face abuse during their childhood normally go through a great deal of pain, this includes when it is happening and for the rest of their life psychologically. The reason that cases like this go on for so long is that the children are normally afraid of telling this to their parents or other adults due to fear of being accused of lying or making the matters worse. Because children’s minds are still very innocent, sometimes the abuser makes them believe that such acts are normal and it is something they should let the abuser do to them. Many legal guardians have seen symptoms of an abused child but they often ignore it from fear of facing the truth, which is very sad.
The DSI received information that Norman was hiding somewhere in Pattaya. On 7 August 2019, one day after the Thai officials received such information the Immigration Police successfully arrested Norman Lunt in a home located in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Norman was then delivered to the Office of International Affairs.
