Chevrolet Captiva Sold Out! At 50% off price tag.

General Motors in Thailand has announced that they’ll no longer continue the sales of Chevrolet vehicles in Thailand by the end of this year (2020). Customers with Chevrolet vehicles will continue to get service and usual. After the news went public on 17 February 2020. This big move plays a role in cutting costs in the company’s internal capital framework.

Not long after the announcement, Chevrolet then revealed a big sale on Chevrolet Captiva cutting price down by 50%. Pretty much all showrooms have sold out on the model with most customers buying in cash. A sales employee in Khon Kaen Province revealed to Khaosod that they have sold 300 Captivas in 1 day, compared to what they usually sell at 50 Captiva’s per month. Customers line up at the showroom ready to sign the papers and wait for their brand new car.

 

The Captiva retail price starts at about 1 million THB, the current price tag starts at 500,000 THB. Kittipong Wannarach 33 years old from Khon Kaen and one of Chevrolet’s brand new customers reveals that he made the decision within 1 hour after hearing the news. When asked whether service and repairs were a worry, Kittipong states that Thai mechanics are good and there won’t be a problem.

Sukanya Kanyabut a saleswoman from Chevrolet Pichit Diamond Khon Kaen Showroom revealed that after the news went out about the price cut, customers started messaging her on Facebook and Line all night. When the day started customers lined up with excitement and the Captiva is now sold out at 15.00.

 

There are 300 Captiva’s sold just in 1 day with over half paying in cash. The employees have to reserve any remaining cars for customers who paid in full. The specific showroom usually sells about 40-50 cars per month, but this day they sold 300. Sukanya has never experienced anything like it before.
