Chinese businessman kidnapped for ransom.

Director General Police Lieutenant General Pakpong Pongpetra and related officials reported the arrest of 5 suspects Sombun, Suchat, Wanchai, Woraping, and a Chinese Malaysian man. The suspects kidnapped a Chinese businessman for ransom. The group demanded 15 Million THB for his release. Police also discovered evidence including a White Mitsubishi car, an ATM card, a bankbook, and phones worth 500,000 THB. Officials received notification from Kriangkrai Jaikum a friend of the victim named Lucas on 4 December 2020. Lucas was kidnapped from Sukhumvit 39 on the 4th and the suspects demanded 15 Million THB to let Lucas live.

Investigation revealed Lucas was kidnapped into a white car. The license plate was covered by paper. Police then tracked the car down discovering it was parked inside a resort in Suphan Buri Province. Police surrounded and searched the resort where Lucas was found and rescued. The suspects have admitted to all charges claiming that Lucas owns many spas in Bangkok. Lucas hired Suchat for interior design inside a spa. Lucas broke their contract causing a loss of over 400,000 THB making the suspects very unhappy. The Malaysian Chinese man is a guide and claimed Lucas had taken over 10 Million THB from him. Together the suspects planned the kidnapping and ransom.

Officials reveal they are still searching for 2 more suspects involved in the crime. These are 2 Burmese who were hired to kidnap Lucas on the 4th. The suspects had withdrawn over 1 Million THB using the victim’s ATM card. They used the money to purchase 20 baht of gold necklaces, a MacBook, speakers and shared the rest among each other. The 2 remaining suspects are on the run but officials are collecting evidence including security footage to track them down. Lucas has gifted flowers and a basket to officials involved in his rescue. He revealed the suspects did not harm him and this is his first time being kidnapped for ransom.
