A coconut tree is drawing a large number of visitors and lottery gamblers to a public school in the northeastern Thai province of Surin, Sanook.com reported today (July 15).
The center of attention is three new shoots growing from the tree stock, which many people say resemble the three heads of the mythical giant serpent, or naga.
As word spread, more people descended on the school, many with incense sticks and candles to worship the spirit that they believe resides in the tree.
Lottery gamblers joined in, pledging to organize a Thai traditional play in the school if they won top prizes in the next government lottery draw.
