Charoen Pokphand Group commonly known as CP in Thailand is a major company. CP is currently the largest producer of shrimp and sits at the top 3 in the world for pork and other products in the food industry. You might know CP from their relation with the 7/11 convenience store. About 4 weeks ago the company announced its plans to build a factory specifically to start the production of medical masks for medical personnel and the Thai people.
The 1st machine to make medical masks arrived on the night of 5 April 2020 from China. In the past 3 weeks, the medical mask factory is now 80% completed. The machine will start its operation at the factory after arriving in Suvarnabhumi Airport on flight YG 9021. CP has brought in an automatic medical mask machine with the ability to produce on average 50,000 medical masks per day. The 2nd machine is expected to arrive on the 9th but there is yet confirmation on the date as there are strict regulations on flights arriving in Thailand due to the COVID-19 situation. Flights in and out of Thailand during this time can be moved or canceled at unexpected moments.
CP will be able to produce on average 100,000 medical masks per day or about 3 million masks per month after the 2nd machine arrives at the factory. The factory has a clean-room environment inside and only 20% of the preparation is left before the factory is ready to go in full production mode. The 1st machine is delivered to the factory and the team in Thailand will be communicating with specialists abroad by teleconference to properly set up and run the machine. After the factory is completed medical personnel in Thailand will have a better medical mask supply.
