A DONATION center was opened in Lopburi today (May 31) after a huge fire which raged for over three hours destroyed around a hundred houses last night, Matichon newspaper said.
Lopburi Mayor Chamlern Salacheep said this donation center is at a plumping station opposite Manohra community in Muang district that was gutted in last night’s blaze.
Lopburi municipality has arranged a team of officials to take care of the victims and have already set up tents to temporarily house them and arranged food and drinks for them. At the same time Lopburi Samakhee Songkroh Foundation has also donated some necessecities.
Meanwhile Thai News Agency said that firemen are still spraying water into this old community of wooden houses built very close to each other as smoke is still billowing out this morning and many residents are missing.
According to this news agency, the gutted community had 70 houses and over 300 residents and initially the fire victims took shelter on the road and were not able to bring anything out with them except for clothes.
