THE hero divers are now steadily returning home with Dr Richard Harris and his team flying back from Chiang Rai on a special Australian Air Force plane at 6 a.m. this morning (July 13, 2018), the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
Present at Chiang Rai’s Mae Fah Luang Airport to bid farewell to the Adelaide doctor, who was the last person out of the cave following the daring mission, was the airport’s director Mr Visut Khamyod.
Meanwhile 7 British diving experts also flew back home from Suvarnabhumi Airport just after midnight today after flying in from Chiang Rai at 10 p.m. last night.
On hand to bid the British team good bye were Tourism Minister Weerasak Kowsurat, Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, His Majesty the King’s representative Lt-Gen Phakdi Saengchuto and Suvarnbhumi Airport officials.
The 7 British divers heading home are Mr Richard Willima Stanton, Mr Christopher Jewell, Mr Michael John Clayton, Mr Gary Mitchel, Mr Joshua Brian Bratchley, Mr Connor Stuart Roe and Mr Jim Warny. They are all experts from the British Cave Rescue Council.
Mr Weerasak mentioned that the British divers said during a visit to Chiang Rai’s famous Wat Rong Khun temple that they came to help and did not hope for any rewards with their key objective being to safely bring out the 12 soccer boys and their coach from Tham Luang cave.
They had also said they were impressed with the kindness of Thai people.
