Elderly woman gets first shot of Covid vaccine in Chiang Mai

An 82-year-old woman was the first person in the northern Thai province of Chiang Mai to receive an injection against Covid-19 this morning (June 7, 2021).

The woman received the first dose of AstraZeneka vaccine and returned home with no problem found after the injection.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha later joined a video conference and told local officials that they can contact officers in Bangkok if they find any problems.

Chiang Mai has 560,000 elderly people with health problems. As of this morning, nearly 300,000 residents have registered for the vaccine. There are more than 47 spots in local hospitals where they can get an injection.

Chiang Mai aims to give the injection to everyone, with 2,000 persons receiving the vaccine each day.
