Election candidate’s posters damaged

A Democrat Party candidate in the upcoming general election today (Feb 25, 2019) filed a complaint with Chon Buri police asking them to catch a group of people who damaged his campaign posters, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.

Mr Paitoon Wachira-ongpinyo said more than 50 of his campaign posters on a roadside were slashed. It is the first complaint filed in the eastern coastal province, where candidates from two big parties are neck-and-neck in the upcoming election.

The Election Commission this afternoon sent a team of investigators to Chon Buri to talk to complainants.

Mr Paitoon is the top favorite to win a seat in Chon Buri and this might have compelled his opponents to resort to illegal action, said Matichon.
