Evacuation mulled as Mekong keeps rising

AMNART Charoen provincial authorities are mulling evacuation plans as the level of water in the Mekong River keeps rising, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported this afternoon (August 1, 2018).

More than 900 rai of rice fields in Chanumarn district have already been damaged, and there will be further destruction if the water level keeps rising.

The level of water in the Mekong measured at 4 p.m. was 11.08 meters. The crisis level is 13 meters.

The most affected areas are Hin Khan, Kok Sarn, Kan Soong, Bung Kiew and Non Samran villages.
