AN explosion took place at Phramongkutklao Hospital Chalermprakiat 80 Years Building at 10 a.m. today (May 22) leading glass on the first floor shattering and injuring 10 people, Matichon newspaper said.
The explosion occurred around a room to receive retired civil servants, a medical room to treat general-level military officers, a dispensary and a cashier counter.
A doctor who was present when the explosion took place said it should have arisen from an air-conditioner duct which has been used for a long time and not well maintained or improved together with there being a gas pipe and another pipe holding a lot electric wires. Pressure could have built up as it is hot and stuffy right now and this might have triggered an explosion.
Major General Charnnarong Naksawasdi, a hospital director, rushed there to take charge of the situation together will other officers.
