Facial surgery fails to save alleged thief

A Lumpini Police Station detective smelled something fishy when he saw a woman walking alone outside Lumpini Park in central Bangkok before dawn today (Dec 19.), the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.

He took the 20-year-old suspect, who turned out to be a transvestite, for questioning. An identity check showed that the suspect had been arrested several times for theft.

He went upcountry where he got facial surgery done and returned to Bangkok recently. He is now in the custody of the Central Youth and Family Court, awaiting the first hearing on his alleged crime.
