Fake Gold Gang arrested in Khon Kaen Province.
The Khon Kaen Police successfully arrested a fake gold-selling gang. Police Lieutenant General Yarnyong Wechosot and other related officials reported the arrest of Suparb 42 years old from Udon Thani Province, Pakorn 41 years old from Bangkok, and Thanakorn 30 years old from Surin Province. The police have been investigating their case after multiple fake gold chains were sold to real gold shops.
The police have been keeping a close eye on the suspects. The gang will hire an actor to sell their fake gold chains so that no one will see what they truly look like. Thanakorn is not involved in the fake gold making process but he is the main actor in the gang. He has sold fake gold to gold shops in Khon Kaen Province, Sisaket Province, and Udon Thani Province. The ID used to sell the gold is real and belongs to the members of the gang.
The fake gold gang will keep watch on different gold shops, they will end up choosing shops that hardly check the gold, or shops that lack the necessary equipment to check the gold. The money earned is split in 3 ways, the first goes to the fake gold maker who earns 1,000 THB per 1 Baht of Gold, the second part is divided across the 7 members in the gang and invested into buying real gold to use in their next mission.
Suparb had just recently come out of jail in 2016 and Pakorn had just recently come out of jail in 2017 at Phuket Province after being in for the same charges of selling fake gold. After gaining freedom, the two came together and formed a fake gold gang. Most of the gold shops are located in Khon Kaen but the gang will move into different provinces once in a while to spread out their crimes. The gang has done this 76 times with an amount of damage of at least 7.6 Million THB. Suparb and Pakorn claim that they needed to commit the crimes so that they can pay off the debt, for their family.
