A fake pilot has been arrested in Sukhothai Province after he got away with 800,000 THB from a female victim. The suspect has denied all charges and will be facing prosecution. Officials from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) arrested Prapol 44 year old, wanted by arrest warrant no. 184/2563 issued by the Dusit Municipal Court on 15 September 2020 on charges relating to fraudulent acts. Prapol was arrested on the road in Si Satchanalai District, Sukhothai Province.
It all started in 2018 when Miss A the victim met with Prapol through a chat application called Beetalk. Prapol introduced himself as a pilot in the Air Force working in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The pair started talking and soon they were in a relationship. It was a long-distance deal as the two were both working in different provinces and rarely met. Prapol would regularly send pictures of himself sitting in a plane to Miss A. This slowly built trust and Miaa A truly believed he was in the Royal Thai Air Force.
Prapol started opening up to Miss A and revealed he was dealing with some financial issues because his mother was unwell. Miss A felt sorry and wanted to help her boyfriend so she let him borrow some money. The victim made over 300 transfers, amounting to about 800,000 THB. At the end of 2019, Miss A started suspecting that Prapol might not be who he says. After some research, it was confirmed that there is no officer with that name in the Air Force. Miss A filed a case against Prapol with the Dusit Municipal Court. Investigation Police collected evidence and discovered the suspect was hiding in Sukhothai. Prapol the suspect has been arrested and is now at the Dusit Municipal Court waiting for prosecution.
