A FAMILY returning home from funeral prayers a little after midnight last night miraculously survived after their vehicle plunging into an irrigation canal from an unlit road in nearby Ayutthaya province, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported this morning (April 20).
Mr Karan Kruapuk, 45, the driver of the vehicle, told police that he had just driven his family from the funeral house and gone on the unlit 2-lane road for 5 kilometers when he saw a tractor, with the rear lights off, right in front of them.
He had no choice but to swerve to avoid hitting the tractor, which would have meant instant death for the passengers, and plunged into the canal.
Luckily no one was hurt and local people and rescuers all helped collect the family’s belongings from the canal.
