Fire ate away at least 10 M damages at Chonburi bag factory.

A fire started on the 13th of this month in one of Thailand’s biggest bag factory for export fashion bags, suitcases and purses. It was an extremely angry fire with at least an estimated amount of 10 million THB of damages.

Workpoint News reported that a factory with an area of 2 acres in Pan Thong district, Chonburi province was burned down by a fire that spread in a flash of an eye. Inside the factory were materials used to produce fashion bags, purses, suitcases, and wallets that were flammable consisting of excellent combustible fabrics and different types of leathers.

 

The Chonburi fire rescue team brought 10 firetrucks with the hope to calm down the fire or at least control the flames from spreading any further. Despite the strong attempts, the first building that caught fire had parts that had already crashed down to the ground.

 

A factory employee reported that when the fire started there were 2 employees’ that were keeping a watch on the building before they decided to go have some lunch. When they returned, the employees’ noticed smoke coming from one of the buildings. They realized what had started inside the factory and decided to call the emergency police line right away.

Chawapon Prachitwat the district-chief officer of Pan Thong district went to the factory to help find a way to control the flames. When he saw how bad the situation was, Chawapon decided to call in other firetrucks that were in Chonburi to the factory.

 

The team of firefighters were finally able to control the flames after one hour. A large part of the products in the factory was burned beyond repair by the fire, with a small portion that could be saved and removed from the factory. How the fire started is still a mystery but the officials are working on finding the cause.

 

The damages have currently been estimated to be at least 10 million THB. The investigation police will evaluate the actual damages of the factory again after the products that survived are all relocated from the burned down building.
