A BIG fire that raged for over an hour completely gutted a pub in Banglamung district near Pattaya last evening (June 12) with five people being injured and damage estimated at 10 million baht, Thai News Agency said.
At around 4.30 pm yesterday police, soildiers and Pattaya public disaster relief officials rushed to Muze pub with five fire engines and a fire boom lift but failed to control the blaze even after an hour of spraying water. At this point the roads surrounding the pub were blocked to traffic and people living nearby told to evacuate.
Later six more fire engines were sent before the blaze was eventually brought under control
Of the five people injured, a man and a woman who worked at the pub were rushed to the hospital while three technicians who were working on extending the pub were given first aid by volunteers and later questioned by police.
Anek Thonnondaeng, 33, one of the three technicians working at the pub said the three of them were linking a door within the premises when flames hit a foam-coated wall. They tried to put out the fire but failed so ran out.
Bang Lamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong said an inspection of the building showed it has been completely destroyed and damage estimated to be 10 million baht. It has been cordoned off and those not concerned are not allowed to go anywhere near it with there to be a scientific inspection later.
This pub, which has been running for a few years now, was operated under license taken by Miss Suraporn Sornkhumuang 32.
