Frenchman arrested in murder of Italian husband

THE new French husband of a Thai woman both wanted for killing and burning the body of her Italian husband earlier this month has been arrested, but he denies the murder charge saying he only helped the wanted woman escape, INN News reported this morning (Jan. 29).

Pol. Col. Krisana Pattanacharoen, a deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, said the central Phichit province’s court had issued a warrant for Mr Amaury  Rigaud, 34, a French national, for joining others in the premeditated murder of Mr Giuseppe di Stephanie, 61, and helping conceal, hide, move or destroy his body or parts of his body.

Rigaud was arrested at a forest in upper central Kamphaeng  Phet province’s Kosamphi Nakhon district while Ms Ruchira Klailamai, 38, the murder victim’s wife, is still being chased.

Upon being questioned Rigaud denied killing the Italian man and burning his body, saying  Ruchira committed this crime and he only helped her escape because he was concerned about her.

The Thai-language daily Thai Rath quoted Rigaud as also saying that Ruchira asked him to be her bodyguard but while escaping they saw the news about themselves with a CCTV image of the car so they sprayed a new color over it to dodge the police.
