Friend confesses to killing prosecutor’s mother-in-law

A FRIEND of a woman found brutally murdered with her ring fingers cut off and dumped at a plantation in Rayong on Friday night has finally confessed to killing her after being shown a strand of hair found in the victim’s hand, Naewna and TV Channel 7 said this morning (Nov. 18).

Pol. Maj. Gen. Thirachai Chamnanmo, commander of Provincial Police Region 2, personally interrogated the suspect Ms. Kamonwan (surname withheld), 57, who was charged with brutally killing Ms. Wanna. 65.

At first, the suspect denied all charges but upon being presented with the hair found in the victim’s hand which she pulled while fighting for her life the suspect confessed that she brought Wanna while still alive to the spot where her body was found then assaulted her to death in order to clear gambling debts. She insisted that she acted alone.

However police do not believe her and are urgently collecting evidence to find her accomplices because the suspect was helped in moving and dumping the body in the plantation. They are going to review surveillance camera clips recorded along the route they believe the gang used to take the victim to kill her.

In searching the suspect’s house in Chonburi province police found more evidence including a pair of lottery tickets with dirt and blood stains believed to belong to the victim which were seized.

Kamolwan was traced from CCTV footage that showed the deceased had got into a white sedan with a Chonburi licence plate before disappearing with the suspect also being the last person to have called her.

Ms. Wanrat, victim’s daughter who works at the Office of Attorney-General and whose husband is a prosecutor, told police before her mother disappeared she was wearing a five-baht gold necklace, a three-baht gold bracelet, two diamond rings and had some money in her pocket.
