A fuel truck has been caught with large amounts of drugs. These drugs include 3.8 million Yaba pills, 10 kilograms of crystal meth, and ecstasy pills. Together the drugs are worth over 100 million THB. The suspect stated he received 50,000 THB to deliver the drugs and needed to find money for his wife’s medical expenses. Chai Sanitwong and related officials from the Thai Customs Department reported the arrest of Prasit 53 years old on 23 November 2022. Prasit was arrested with large amounts of drugs. He is the driver of a fuel truck belonging to a company in Chonburi Province. All the drugs were hidden inside the truck, because it is a fuel truck the driver believed officials would not check inside.
Pakin Tiepkam a customs officer who regularly inspects vehicles traveling in and out of Thailand in Nong Khai Province asked to inspect Prasit’s fuel truck. Pakin scanned the truck and found a certain part of the truck suspicious. This took place at the first Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge at a road checkpoint. The fuel truck was returning into Thailand. Because the scan was unusual, he asked to further search the vehicle. Inside the truck was 3,860,000 Yaba pills, 5,000 ecstasy pills, and 10 kilograms of crystal meth. Prasit stated he has been delivering fuel to a company in Laos for over 20 years and doesn’t use drugs. He received a new job on the 21st to deliver fuel. While driving as usual a Laos person approached the truck and asked him to stop by a forest.
3 Persons walked out and asked him to deliver drugs to Khao Hin Son in Prachinburi Province. They gave him 50,000 THB in cash and informed him the exact drop off location will be given to him later. Prasit never got to drop off the drugs as he has been arrested. The suspect claims he decided to take the job because his wife is very sick with many diseases. About 6 years ago he smuggled marijuana into Thailand. This was about 300-400 kilograms and he received about 30,000 THB for the job. This is definitely not his first time taking illegal side jobs. Prasit has been delivered to the police and is waiting for prosecution.
